What is an edcamp?

The first Edcamp for Riverside, CA will take place on March 15, 2014 at Matthew Gage Middle School.  Edcamp Riverside is a part of the global Edcamp "un-conference" movement which brings local educators together to pitch ideas to their colleagues and to participate in customized workshops.  The free event will focus on offering practical, technology-based, timely training to K-12 teachers from across the Inland Empire.

The national Edcamp Foundation describes the goal of an edcamp as "promoting organic, participant-driven professional development" (http://edcamp.org).  Rather than a planned speaker or an outside consultant, edcamps draw on the strengths of the participants, our homegrown experts in the field.

The inaugural event for Riverside, CA takes place on Saturday, March 15 at Matthew Gage Middle School from 8:30AM to 1:30PM.  The conference will be offered free to educators thanks to the generous sponsorship of Matthew Gage Middle School and local businesses.

Teachers, administrators and other educators may register for the event at http://edcampriverside.eventbrite.com.
In addition, the group has a presence on Twitter (@edcampriverside).
